OK, OK OK, first of all, I’m going to warn you that I ALWAYS make VERY LONG comments, if you don’t like that, let me know and I won’t do it again, so I apologize.

Second point: This is the first time in a VERY long time that I’m going to comment on a fic here in Ao3, I was previously still am, but not as actively, so much so that I don’t comment there anymore more focused on Katakuri X Corazón fanfics/fandom from One Piece, but I ended up “migrating” for here.

Apparently, I need to find new obsessions (⁠●⁠◡⁠●⁠) and Charthur is definitely my new obsession. However, I’m still new in this fandom, so this is the first time I’m commenting on a Charthur fanfic, actually on an RDR fanfic.

I’ve undoubtedly read more than 200 fanfics ಠ⁠_⁠ಠ ok, I admit, ಠ⁠﹏⁠ಠ I’ve gone to the end of all the stories available with the tag “Arthur Morgan/Charles Smith”, my god I have a problem and here it is, finally, the fanfic that gave me the courage to comment, mainly due to the fact that, as soon as I read the synopsis, I was VERY reminded of a fanfic which I absolutely LOVE called “Arrowheads and second chances” made by “Hannibalzero42”. Please, I’m not accusing you of anything, on the contrary, I’m VERY happy to see your fic, not least because your story undoubtedly has its own originality. My happiness with this fic has many reasons, but there’s one in particular that I’ll explain after!

Edit: MY GOD, I’M DYING OF SHAME NOW, YOU’RE THE AUTHOR OF “Arrowheads and second chances”, MY GOD I’M SORRY!!!! MY GOD I SWEAR I’M DYING OF SHAME HERE, MY GOD WHY AM I SO INATTENTIVE!?!?!! 😅😅😅😓😓

Third Point; one of the reasons I said I was very happy was that you chose to make Charles a panther hybrid and not a Bison, ok, I know it makes total sense that he is made, by most of the Fandom, as a Bison hybrid when it comes to AU where the characters are hybrids, however, I can’t help but feel that Charles suits a black Jaguar/Panther much more, I don’t know, he gives me more a big feline/Kitty ⁠ꈍ⁠ᴥ⁠ꈍ/prrrrrenergy. Another thing I found interesting, if I haven’t misinterpreted it, was the fact that, in this narrative, it’s not just Arthur who has possible fertility problems, but Charles has them too, it’s really as if fate was ready to bring together two people who can’t form a family in the “normal” way, one because of an injury and the other because he’s a hybrid of a raven and a panther. However, I was curious to know who was who, that is, if Charles’ mother was the raven and his father the panther or if it was the other way around. Another thing I’d like to know/understand better is, Charles has Raven and Panther blood, but does he only have panther physical characteristics?

Fourth point; I just love how Charles seems to be in this fic the kind of person who loves to make the house more and more welcoming, more and more personalized, not that Arthur didn’t want that too, to make that place feel more and more like a Home every day, but Charles has this specific energy that made me smile because it reminds me of someone I live with a lot in real life. I also thought it was cute that Charles was so happy to find “fancy and pretty” things in exactly the same way that a… crow would be 🤣. Another detail that is undoubtedly present in this story with the total intention of killing readers with cuteness is the fact that Arthur is always “wagging his tail”, that short but fluffy and stupidly cute tail that makes you want to bite just by imagining it. Left gently after a moment of “thefuck” caused by extreme cuteness.

Fifth point; I loved the way you described in “a short amount of time” the emotions of not only Arthur but Charles as well when faced with the fact that they really weren’t going to be able to have a child, that Arthur wasn’t going to get pregnant, whether it was from the gunshot injury at 14 or the fact that Charles had a combination of genetics that gave him infertility, they would and had to be confronted with that reality. However, I liked how you made Arthur more stubborn in that respect, having only, as far as I could tell, given up after literally suffering physically from the consequences of a desperate search for a solution. Meanwhile, we have Charles’s side, who seems to be in a mix of emotions, probably impotence and resignation but at the same time frustration even if it’s not malicious for no one at this truth, especially after seeing little Jack. Jack, that’s another point I liked a lot too, you used the contrast between the couples well, the one that always fought but in the end, seems to have been united by Jack’s birth, while on the other hand, Arthur and Charles were even more united by the support they both wanted to give each other in the face of the “non-existence of a Jack” for them.

Sixth Point: Interesting… so you didn’t kill or disappear Micah ◖⁠⚆⁠ᴥ⁠⚆⁠◗, it even seems like he’s less unbearable here in this story… but I wonder how long he’ll stay out of trouble, because if you’ve kept him around the main cast of this story, I have a feeling something’s going to happen… tell me for God sakes he’s a Rat hybrid 🤣.

Seventh Point; The part of the gods is very beautiful, it manages to be simple but carries a very satisfying mystery, in a way that reminds me of something like a story being told to a child, specifically to a child, I can’t quite put my finger on why. Perhaps it’s the fact that there is no “attempt to explain everything in an excruciating way” at the mention of them, just a gentle presentation, so that they are seen in a light and loose way, that really got me interested.

Another thing I’ll find very funny if it happens is Arthur realizing “oh my god I’m pregnant” and then “oh my god we’re going to have a baby” and then we go to “an extremely worried Charles because Arthur’s belly looks much bigger than it should, my god is he okay?? Shit, why won’t he stop he’s trying to kill himself???! no Arthur you can’t causally climb up on the roof to get something, get out of there NOW” and then “FUCK CHARLES I’M GOING TO KILL YOU, DID YOU PUT 2 BABIES IN ME?!!? YOU WANT TO KILL ME?“ only to finish with “my god they’re adorable I’ll gut anyone who gets their hands on my precious babies”.

Anyway, I think I could write more, since I have this problem, but I prefer to end the comment here, I don’t want to leave a testament here in the comments of your story. 😅
